Washim is a holy city with a rich religious heritage. It is renowned for its local deity– Balaji. The Puranas have referred to Washim as the vatsgulm and it is said that the Kund situated in the Shiva temple located here was created by Lord Vishnu. The city is also welcoming of the Jain pilgrims who visit the Antariksha Parshwanath Temple. Moreover, it is known as the holy place of the Banjara community. Washim, though famous for its religious sites, offered potential for developing its recreational and relaxation spaces.
